This site is dedicated to the memory of Danny Lyons.

Danny Lyons. Much loved Husband, Dad, Grandad, Greatgrandad and friend died on 10th May 2011 aged 87, he had fibrosis. Danny was born in Bantry Ireland in 1924. His family moved to Scotland where he spent his childhood together with his 9 brothers and sisters. On his 18th Birthday he joined the Army and soon volunteered to be a paratrooper. Danny fought from 1942 till the end of the war serving in North Africa, Italy, France, Greece and Palestine. In 1947 he married Lorna (Cis) who meant the world to him. They have three children, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Danny worked in sales and later trained as an audiologist, working well into his 70s. Danny loved cars, golf, his wife's cooking, talking to people and most of all his wife and family. He had a great ability to make people laugh wherever he went. From very humble beginnings Danny has been one of a last generation of people who knew real hardship and truly changed the lives of those who followed. He always showed great pride in his family and friends and we all have even greater pride in him. We owe him a lot and can hopefully make a difference with this fund in his honour.
